After a 2022 closure due to cantilever failure, its rehabilitation balanced modern engineering with historic and environmental preservation. This session explores the technical evaluations and design decisions required to restore this legacy asset, which reopened in November 2025. Gain insight into adapting historic infrastructure for modern needs.

By implementing Distributed Wastewater Treatment Systems (DWTS), Lake County provides immediate sewer service to unsewered areas without requiring existing collection networks or centralized treatment capacity, effectively overcoming traditional infrastructure barriers.

Florida is a national leader in autonomous vehicles, including the nation’s first public transit system in Jacksonville. AV transit requires a larger coordinated effort including planning, mobility, digital infrastructure, and an array of engineering services. This session reviews the engineer’s role and vital areas of integration such as transit facilities, street design, public works, utilities, urban planning, and stakeholder engagement.
